Meat Boom: Why Pork Imports to Ukraine Have Surged 10-Fold

In January 2026, Ukraine imported significantly more pork than in the same month a year earlier — volumes increased roughly tenfold.

According to data from the State Customs Service, about 3.4 thousand tons of pork were brought into the country during the first 31 days of the year, substantially exceeding the20260217 figures recorded in January 2025. At the same time, spending on these purchases rose sharply — in monetary terms, imports were more than 12 times higher year-on-year, reaching approximately $7.5 million.

Denmark accounted for nearly half of the total pork imports into Ukraine in January, making it the leading supplier. Poland and Germany were also among the top three exporting countries during this period.

Compared to last year’s performance, the average monthly import volume in 2025 stood at around 2.6 thousand tons, whereas in January 2026 this figure significantly surpassed the previous average.
