EU countries report a decline in ASF in the private sector

The EU Animal Disease Alert System (ADNS) has provided statistics confirming the positive trend in 2020 in reducing the number of ASF outbreaks in private sector animals.

According to the reported reports, only 1,199 outbreaks have been confirmed. For comparison, in 2019, 1,848 outbreaks were recorded. Romania is considered to be the leader in the number of confirmed cases in private sector pigs. 1053 outbreaks of this dangerous disease were recorded there.

Also, statistics revealed a tendency towards an increase in the incidence in Poland. In 2019, there were 55 cases of ASF in domestic pigs, and in 2020 the figure increased to 103. Greece in 2020 for the first time identified the causative agent of ASF in domestic pigs.
